The boatyard

One boat
at a time

Building unique boats so you can make the most of your free time. That was always the brief, and it still is.

An Avalon does not come off an assembly line. Every hull is hand-laid in fiberglass, with an exclusive double-gelcoat system that keeps fiber print-through to a minimum and holds the finish over the years. No wood or plywood goes into any structural part: the point where moisture starts to win is simply removed.

What you see — the stainless hardware, the dashboard, the upholstery, the wiring — is chosen with the same care as what you don't. It is the difference between a boat that gets delivered and one that is still in use twenty years later.

Layout is the most important design decision on a boat this size: where people sit, how they move around, what stays free when the boat is at anchor.

The craft

What you
don't see is
what lasts

Four construction decisions made before the boat takes shape, and that cannot be corrected afterwards.

01 · Hull

Hand-laid FRP

Fiberglass laid by hand, layer by layer. Full construction in reinforced plastic, with no compromise joints.

02 · Finish

Exclusive double gelcoat

Two layers of gelcoat that minimize fiber print-through. It is why the shine lasts.

03 · Structure

Zero wood or plywood

No structural part contains wood. Moisture damage, the classic problem in boating, is eliminated at the root.

04 · Components

Chosen stainless and electrics

From the hardware to the breaker panel: components selected to last, not just to pass delivery.

Our story

2001

It starts as a personal challenge

It all starts as a personal project: building a boat of one's own. The Avalon X3 Elite, five meters long, takes five years of work. Friends joked it was like building the Titanic. The result was a boat with an obsession for detail that the boatyard never managed to shake off.

2006

The first model hits the water

The X3 Elite reaches the market and doesn't stop: more than 450 units sold and exports to Germany, Greece, Australia, Brazil and Paraguay. A year later comes the X3 Sport. The boatyard stops being a one-person project.

Today

Three models, the same method

Zonda 225, Boreal 235 and Siroco 250. The scale changed, not the way things are done: hand lay-up, double gelcoat and components chosen one by one. Still built at Carmen de Areco 1633, Tigre.

Heritage

Our
previous
models

Some models were renamed as they evolved. This is how the previous names map to the current range.

2006 · Discontinued

Avalon X3 Elite

The boatyard's first model, a 5-meter boat. More than 450 units sold. No direct equivalent in the current range, which starts with the 6.80 m Zonda 225.

2007 · Discontinued

Avalon X3 Sport

A sport version derived from the X3 Elite. No direct equivalent either: the current range starts with the 6.80 m Zonda 225.

Now · Boreal 235

Avalon 230 Cuddy

Evolved and renamed in 2026 as the Boreal 235, the 7.10 m boat with the largest cockpit in its class.

Now · Siroco 250

Avalon 240 Open

Evolved into the Siroco 250, 7.50 m, with cuddy and fold-out side terraces.

FAQ

What we
get asked
the most

Is Astillero Avalon (Avalon Sport Boats) the same company as Avalon Pontoon Boats?

No. Astillero Avalon, also known as Avalon Sport Boats, is an independent Argentine boatyard in Tigre, Buenos Aires. It builds fiberglass sport boats and has no connection with Avalon Pontoon Boats of the United States.

Which 7-meter boats does Avalon build?

Two models: the Boreal 235, 7.10 m, and the Siroco 250, 7.50 m.

Do Avalon boats contain wood?

Not in any structural part. They are built entirely in FRP, with no structural wood or plywood, so there are no moisture problems.

How many people do they carry?

The Zonda 225 carries up to 10 people, the Boreal 235 up to 7 and the Siroco 250 up to 10.

Where are they built?

At our boatyard at Carmen de Areco 1633, Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina, where we have been building boats since 2001.
